...for we aim at what is honorable not only in the Lord's sight but also in the sight of everyone. ~Paul. 2 Cor.8.21.

In this part of his letter Paul is talking about giving, commitments, and really general stewardship. He writes to encourage the church to accountability in the giving of their hearts to Christ, first, and then to complete the desires birthed in their hearts by the Spirit of God to support the work of God.

This morning I noted Paul’s awareness that man is watching. He is reminding us, also, of our responsibility to be aware of our testimony, our witness, our appearance to the world. It is good that current events are stirring the Church to boldness, but let us not forget that our boldness should make good first impressions. Later, out of relationship, we may be led to conversations that risk offense for the sake of eternity. I realize this is general rule, not applying to all situations. Although if it gets your back up it is probably for you, at least in the light of my own experience of conviction over problematic heart issues.

Our Father, holy is your name. Worthy. Also of worth are all human beings created in your image. Help me remember this all day long. All people reflect markers of your glory. All. All are deserving of our sacrificial love. O LORD, give me wisdom in my ways, make them like yours. In Jesus Name.
