basement living
Since October we have visited several churches, renewed old relationships, and made new friends. Last Sunday we shared our story at Risen Lord Community Church in St. Louis, you can
Everywhere we go our faith is strengthened. We have been blessed to have special family time, too. The kids gave us a family photo shoot for Christmas...what a precious gift!!
The day after Christmas, with the help of special friends, we moved out of our apartment. The last of our furniture was put in a "u-haul" and we drove it down to our younger son's apartment in Florida.
Back in KC, friends moved our clothes and some miscellaneous things into the finished basement of a family in our church. It is humbling to be on the receiving end during this time, but powerful to be a part of Christ's body in action.
I spent the week of January 10 in New Orleans leading girls from University of Missouri - Columbia on a mission service project.
We put up insulation, drywall, painted, and worked with the children in the after-school program.
The earthquake in Haiti hit that week. In the midst of doing Hurricane Katrina relief, it was sobering. We are praying that people will give their lives away to serve the Haitians.
January 15th was Jim's last day of a 30-year career in the baking industry. He has had many opportunities to share with business associates, who have become friends, about our desire to follow Christ by coming alongside His people in Peru to share the gospel message.
The time is now here for these two type-A's to learn a new "dance"--the 24/7 together--SCARY!!.
Thank you so much to those who have already been in prayer for our marriage, that our feet do not stumble. We are seeing evidence of the power of prayer over us...please don't stop. Thank you sending team and committed prayer partners.
We are coming closer to scheduling our leave date. Lord willing, we will book plane tickets for some time during the third week of March.
During the next three weeks we are praying for the remainder of our financial support to be provided. Currently, we are more than half of the way to our need for 2010 through one-time donations and monthly pledges. We have received about another 30% in verbal commitments.
We appreciate those who have prayerfully considered and are partnering with us.
